During this enlightening session Mr. Foster highlight developments in both Asian and international art markets including:

PART 2: "A BUSINESS CASE: THE SINGAPORE FREEPORT"

Alain Vandenborre is a passionate serial entrepreneur. In 2005, he and his Swiss partner, Yves Bouvier, Chairman of Natural Le Coultre, had a vision: to develop in Singapore a unique "Fort Knox" type of facility for high value collectibles, located at Changi Airport.
The FreePort would offer international auction houses, art dealers, fine art logistic companies, private collectors a world class facility where they could store and trade freely their precious collections. Owners could view their collections and transactions could take place, in an environment of security, beauty and serenity.
Mr. Vandenborre will tell us the story of how he and his Swiss partners operating at the Geneva FreePort have turned this vision into a market reality. He will also detail how they developed for Singapore an iconic and technological masterpiece with state-of-the-art security, climate control and amazing artistic features that will open its doors this year in December.
PART 3: PRIVATE GUIDED TOUR: "A STORY OF THE IMAGE: OLD AND NEW MASTERS FROM ANTWERP
This exhibition of 150 works features 13 paintings by old Flemish masters from the Royal Museum of Fine Arts of Antwerp (KMSKA), 25 prints from the Museum of Plantin-Moretus/Printroom and 112 contemporary Flemish artworks from the Museum of Contemporary Art (MuHKA). Rare masterpieces by Peter Paul Rubens (1577-1640) and Anthony van Dyck (1599-1641) will be shown in Singapore for the first time. Works by top contemporary art moghuls such as Luc Tuymans, David Claerbout, Francis Alys, Marlene Dumas and Berlinde de Bruyckere will also add to this unique exhibition experience.

President, Christie's Asia
Mr. Foster has been with Christie's since 1999, when he was appointed as one of the company's first International Business irectors, covering Asian Art with a mandate to create a global team and strategy. Under his leadership, the team vastly increased existing sales and developed successful new offerings in categories such as Asian Contemporary and Contemporary Indian Art, bringing about exceptional growth and a dominant market share in key strategic areas. In 2005, Mr. Foster was promoted to the dual roles of Chief Operating Officer, U.S.A. and International Director of Operations and in July 2008 was also appointed President, Asia. As President, Mr. Foster maintains responsibility for the overall management of the Asia region, including the company’s business strategies, representative offices, its auction partnership in Mainland China with Forever, and its diversified enterprises including CFASS in Singapore. Prior to joining Christie's, Mr. Foster's experience included substantial consulting engagements in the arts and non-profit arenas, and extensive executive management in the steel industry. He is a published playwright. He
holds degrees from Claremont McKenna College in California and Columbia University in New York City
ALAIN VANDENBORRE
President, The Singapore FreePort
Alain Vandenborre is the co-founder and President of The Singapore FreePort Pte Ltd, a high-security storage and private exchange facility for high value collectibles. An entrepreneur and private investor, Mr. Vandenborre was awarded the National Young Scientist Award in Belgium at the age of 17 and founded his first company when turning 26, developing new laser technologies for microelectronic design applications. From 2000 to 2005, he co-founded Chinese YIFEI Fashion Group (Shanghai) and was cofounder and co-Chairman of Ravenel Art Group, a private art dealer and auction house company based in Taiwan. In 2004, he was also a founding Director in Singapore of the US firm Hamilton Lane, one of the largest alternative asset management firms in the world, with US$ 100 billion under management, and has served several years as Chairman of both Singapore as well as the Asia Pacific Venture Capital & Private Equity Association. He is a former Executive Director and Chief Financial Officer with Vivendi Group in Asia Pacific. Mr. Vandenborre holds an MA in Astrophysics from the University of Liege, an Optoelectronics Engineering degree from the University of Paris and a Post-graduate degree in Business Administration from the University of Brussels and he is author of 2 books: "Proudly Singaporean" and "The Little Door to the New World".
